--- DESCRIPTION ---
~ Upper Intermediate to Advanced Difficulty ~
An elegant jacket, from the year 1899, that is ideal for late Victorian, early Edwardian, and steampunk looks. This jacket has a flared Medici collar with petal detail, circular cuffs, and scalloped hem. The jacket may be accented by rows of top-stitching. Works well in wool, linen, or cotton for both the fashionable lady or the lady adventurer.
This pattern originally appeared in La Mode Illustree in the year 1899. While based on an original pattern and while this pattern follows the original silhouette very closely, this pattern has had significant improvements to make it more user-friendly for today’s dressmaker.
This pattern has been trued up from the original pattern and includes the addition of multi-sizes, seam allowance, grain lines, notches, facing pieces, and pattern markings which were not originally included. This pattern has been supplemented with my illustrations and text to make basic, untailored construction easier to comprehend. Basic lining instructions are included, but are not in-depth. If you desire more tailoring or lining instruction, it is suggested to supplement this pattern with a book that instructs tailored garment construction.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE A MOCK UP TO TEST PATTERN FIT AND CONSTRUCTION BEFORE CUTTING INTO
YOUR FASHION FABRIC.
Fit and construction of this garment is more complex than the majority of garments made today. Test the construction and fit first in a cheap mock up fabric, since the fit and construction of garments from the 19th century are so VASTLY different than garments today. The fit is unchanged from the original 19th century source material. This was originally designed to be worn over period foundations, including corsets, of the period. The fit of the finished garment, however, does not have the exaggerated bust/waist ratio of many period garments and can easily be adjusted to wear for modern wear, without corset, in the mock up phase

HOW TO USE E-PATTERNS
Most patterns come as both A4/US LETTER and A0 size. You will need ADOBE READER, a free program, to print your e-pattern.
For A4/US LETTER paper:
Open the "READ-ME-FIRST" File for instructions on printing and piecing your pattern. Print the PDF file on your home printer, cut off on the lines given, and tape them together. Then you cut and use your pattern just as you would a normal home sewing pattern.
For A0 size:
This is sent away to a copyshop and printed on big sheets for you. We print A0 pattern sheets at great prices at Pattern Printing Company
