Wearing History #1003 Palisades- 1940s Wrap Dress

This is for PRINTED PATTERN- Mailed to you.

This wrap dress is inspired by an original mid 1940s dress pattern and featured a cute sweetheart neckline, tucks at the bust and at the bretelles (shoulder straps), and a fun gathered skirt.  This dress wraps at the back and the waist ties slip through a side slit and then wrap around the dress- one belt wraps to the front, the other around the back to meet the first tie at the front, where they are tied in a cute bow.  The bodice and skirt can be accented by ric rac trim, and the bretelles and belt can be made in contrast fabric.  The bodice and bretelles are lined.

This dress is a great basic to be made up in solids or in cheerful cotton prints.  The sample was made up in cotton pique for the skirt and bodice and striped seersucker for the contrast belt and bretelles.

This pattern was inspired by an original 1940s pattern but has been redrafted for an improved fit and includes step-by-step illustrated instructions.  This pattern also includes cutting layouts for 45" fabric widths, and a yardage chart and supply list. The pattern is printed on good quality bond paper. This pattern comes all neatly packaged in a clear resealable plastic bag so you can keep your pieces, instructions, and you can add your own fabric swatch and inspiration photos so they can be kept in one handy little packet!

This pattern is recommended for beginning intermediate sewers. A basic knowledge of sewing terminology and application is expected. A muslin mock up is highly suggested to fit the pattern before cutting into your fashion fabric.

This pattern is multisize.  This pattern runs true to size and is meant to be very fitted at the waist. If you're between sizes or desire more ease please cut the next size larger.  Please order pattern by measurements (given in inches), as the size numbers do not equate to modern pattern sizing and pattern sizing can vary from pattern to pattern on my website.

  • HOW TO USE E-PATTERNS

Most patterns come as both A4/US LETTER and A0 size. You will need ADOBE READER, a free program, to print your e-pattern.

    For A4/US LETTER paper:

Open the "READ-ME-FIRST" File for instructions on printing and piecing your pattern. Print the PDF file on your home printer, cut off on the lines given, and tape them together. Then you cut and use your pattern just as you would a normal home sewing pattern.

    For A0 size:

This is sent away to a copyshop and printed on big sheets for you. We print A0 pattern sheets at great prices at Pattern Printing Company

  • Returns

No returns or exchanges are accepted. Please be sure of your pattern size and type of product, either physical or digital, before purchasing.
