This is a BIG pattern pack! Includes THREE individual garments to make early 1940s blouse in long or short sleeves, a skirt with or without suspenders, and a 3/4 length sleeve jacket.

Intermediate Difficulty
For Curious, Experienced Makers, Familiar with Garment Fitting

A “capsule wardrobe” of a trio of garments from the early 1940s consisting of a blouse with short or long sleeves, skirt with fitted yoke with a raised waistline and seams to the skirt at the high hip, and a jacket with three-quarter sleeves.

Description from the period original:
MISSES’ BLOUSE, SUSPENDER SKIRT AND JACKET. Blouse, front edges faced and rolled with collar to form revers. Patch pockets optional. Long sleeves, dart-fitted at top, and gathered to wristbands; perforated for short sleeves, turned back to form cuffs. Four-piece side-closing skirt attached to a two-piece dart-fitted yoke. Suspenders optional. Jacket is pleated at center-back. Patch pockets trim fronts.  Three-quarter sleeves dart-fitted at top; lower edges turned back to form cuffs.

Please be aware- Vintage garment of this period fit *very differently* than garments today. This retains the original 1940s fit!  The skirt most likely will require fitting for your unique figure because of the placement of the smallest part of the waistline towards the center of the "yoke", and sleeves may require alterations for comfort.  You may wish to add length to the lower edge of the blouse.  This blouse retains the vintage fit and styling to preserve authenticity.

This pattern has been multi-sized to included sizes 30"-44" bust all in the same packet. Please enlarge second image for size chart.  The original was only available in sizes 30"-38", so this Wearing History version adds three more sizes.

Please see images. Original period yardage charts included. Additional modern charts are estimated using the largest size, so smaller sizes may require less fabric.  Allow extra for matching patterns, fabrics with a nap, or directional prints.

Because this was based on a period original, a mock up is HIGHLY SUGGESTED. Test construction and fit on your unique figure before cutting into your fashion fabric.

Original patterns are usually available only in single sizes, precut from tissue paper and totally unprinted, with details like grainlines and darts indicated only by small perforations. Also, fitting a muslin mockup is strongly recommended, as all garments were meant to be worn over period foundation garments or corsetry.

--HOW TO PRINT AND USE THIS E-PATTERN--

YOU WILL NEED ADOBE READER, A FREE PDF READER PROGRAM, IN ORDER TO OPEN AND PRINT THIS PATTERN.


This pattern is formatted for USA Letter Size and A4 sized paper. You will need to print this pattern to 100% scale. Open the "READ-ME-FIRST" File for instructions on printing and piecing your pattern.

This pattern is tiled into letter sized paper. This pattern file is formatted to fit on both sizes of paper, and there will be varying thicknesses of white border, which will be cut off, according to pattern instructions.

You will print these documents on your home printer, cut, and tape them together, to form a larger pattern layout. Then you cut and use your pattern just as you would a normal home sewing pattern.

This pattern comes in a ZIP folder that must be decompressed to use, and uses a LOT of paper.

A0 is also included. 4 sheets of A0 paper are needed, to be sent away to a mail order printing service or printed at a print shop.
